A Movie Poster for one of my absolute favorite movies: Isle of Dogs (2018). One of this week's principles of design was to reduce realism, and was my goal when I began making this poster. Reducing realism is all about getting rid of unnecessary visual noise to communicate your message more clearly. So, I used silhouettes to simplify both the dogs, Atari, and Mayor Kobayashi. I stuck with a simple color scheme, but one with enough colors to communicate the film it represented. Kobayashi is portrayed as the bigger figure and in all black, to signify his power and that he is the bad guy. Atari is smaller and in white, representing the underdog and the good guy. I kept my composition simple and easy to read, only containing the title of the movie and it's writer. I used the magic wand and the brush tool to create the silhouettes, and then applied clipping masks to alter the hues- matching the movie logo.
